The Finnish cinema industry was in big troubles, so it needed something very good and soon. "What it could be?" "Shall we do something romantical?" "A little drama?" "A sad drinking story?" "And some villains in it? Problems with the inheritance? This sounds good, let's put all this together!" It's always a brilliant idea to mix everything.

Remade in 1953 under the same title (dir. Valentin Vaala, prod. Risto Orko, actors: Erkki Viljos, Helena Vinkka).

TRIVIA: Jalmari Rinne was brother of actor Joel Rinne.
