In reality 40's in Finland were very hard times. Wars and stuff like that. Ryhmy and Romppainen were a happy couple. They were soldiers and in the middle of the war, but they had a very good time together. This is a pure farce.
There's also sequels: Jees ja just ('Yes and Right Away!', 1943), Jees, olympialaiset, sanoi Ryhmy ('"Give us the Olympics", Said Ryhmy').
TRIVIA: The parody writer Armas J. Pulla's surname is in English "a baked roll". It's his original name!
