In the 1960's Helsinki's 5th part, the area called Rööperi had its own gang like it has had now and before that. In the 1960's it wasn't allowed to sell spirits like nowadays. Therefore the gangs smuggled and sold it. Rööperi (Hellsinki) is a story of the gang of Rööperi. It was a tough gang, but as we can see from the very first scene of the movie, things change.

Violence, boozing and bad jokes seem to fill the life of the main characters. But the movie is not only those things; it's also about moral and frienship. Sadly the story isn't as complex and surprising as it could be. This may be because the original book is a collection of real criminal interviews without any plot.
