Ms. Lund and Karita Mattila must be the two most famous Finnish sopranos. Ms. Lund worked in Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz (Münich) and Komische Oper in Berlin. Her best known opera role was her debut role as Lulu in Alban Berg's modern opera. Before her opera career lovely Ms. Lund performed in Finnish television and she also visited in some Finnish movies. She started as pop singer before her classical music studies. Ms. Lund studied in Sibelius Academy and Teatterikoulu (Theatre School). Her role in the Finnish version of West Side Story brought her a place in Finnish Natinal Opera.
Ms. Lund lost her song-writer boyfriend Rami Sarmasto in a car accident a short time before they were going to marry each other. Their beautiful love song "Yours" (Sinun omasi, 1965) become as a hit single in Finland at the same time, although Ms. Lund refused to sing the whole song for a long time (it was too painful for her). She was married with an opera singer Alexandru Ionitza till her death. She had one son and one daughter, who is a model and singer too (Maria Lund).
