Brother of director Aki Kaurismäki. Not known as big auteur than his brother, but also a talented and respected director whose works may look a little like Jean-Luc Godard's movies.
Mika Kaurismäki studied filming in Münich. There he made also his first movie, Valehtelija (1981), in which his own brother is starring. This movie brought Mika Kaurismäki his first film award (1982 in France).
