Director, script writer

One of the few directors, who survived through the difficult years of the Finnish movie history. His older works doesn't look too old even now. Mr. Kassila's masterpiece is the Inspector Palmu movie serie (Komisario Palmu-sarja).

He is married with actress Aino Mantsas. Their son Taavi Kassila (b. 1953) is also director.
