It's Kalervo's wife who is having her name day. The village has just got a new resident. He's young judge Heikki. Two ladies fall in love with him but who will got who and is it Vekkula that is burning? This movie tells lightfully about fate.
'Hilma's Name Day' is a small comedy about common people. It doesn't try to be a masterpiece and that's perhaps its best part.
TRIVIA: The producer T.J. Särkkä can be spotted in the Hilma's name day party scene. He stands in a doorway with a coffee cup.
